Clean cat litter is minimally toxic in small amounts. If your child ate a mouthful or less, no symptoms are expected.

Symptoms of Poisoning

Eating a small amount of cat litter likely won’t cause any symptoms. If your child is not having symptoms, give them a few sips of water and monitor for vomiting or constipation.

Eye Exposure

  • Cat litter may cause irritation if exposed to eyes.

  • If your child got cat litter in their eyes, rinse by pouring clean, lukewarm water across the affected eye(s) for 15 minutes.
