Toxicity Level
What are toxicity levels?My child ate a glow stick or got the liquid in their eyes. Are glow sticks toxic?
Glow stick liquid is minimally toxic if ingested in small amounts, such as a lick. It can also irritate the eyes and will need to be rinsed out with clean water.
Symptoms of Poisoning
A mouthful or less of glow stick liquid may cause minor mouth or throat irritation, and possibly some minor skin irritation and redness. If your child is not having symptoms, give them a few sips of water and watch for vomiting.If your child begins vomiting, develops sores or blisters on their skin or got the liquid in their eyes, call IPC immediately at 1-800-222-1222.
Eye Exposure

Glow stick liquid may cause irritation if exposed to eyes.

If your child got glow stick liquid in their eyes, rinse by pouring clean, lukewarm water across the affected eye(s) for 15 minutes.
